Fave Thrifting Spots: Goodwill of New York/New Jersey

When did you fall in love with thrifting? I fell in love with thrifting when I was at college in Pennsylvania. I would thrift my clothes at the local goodwill in town. I would also watch my dad go to our local goodwill in New Jersey and he would come back with a cool Levi’s Jean jacket or cool sweater. He passed three years ago and I have all his vintage finds. It is fun now to see them back in style again. My two daughters also thrift shop too.

What do you enjoy most about thrift shopping? What I enjoy most about thrifting is finding designer vintage stuff at such great prices and restyling them to look modern and on trend.

How would you describe your style? My style and motto is #livecolofully and #shinebright. I love bold colors and feel confident wearing them and mixing leopard with just about anything.

What is your number one tip for thrift shopping success? When I thrift shop, I always have my wish thrift list. This way I only get what I need or lacking in my wardrobe. I thrift shop once a month and sometimes I find a ton, other times I come out empty handed.  Having a list is key and is my number one tip.

  2. Fun! I love finding vintage clothing. It started with my mother and grandmother, who were such fashion icons. The pictures I have of them in the 50s/60s in their gorgeous gowns are precious to me!

  3. I don't thrift too much because I don't know of many stores by me but it is a great way to shop. You can get great deals and nice clothes if you know where to shop.

  6. I have loved thrifting since I was a young girl. I love all of the thrifted pieces shown in the pictures above. Wonderful finds! Some of my favorite finds include my $400 ABS Allen Schwartz wedding dress that I bought for $15, which was an even more fantastic deal since it was just like new; Betsey Johnson cocktail dress for $10, and a Rachel Pally maxi dress for $3.

  12. I haven't been very successful with thrifting but it's because I haven't given it a genuine effort beyond shopping for my daughters. I'll definitely try again when I have time to shop without my girls! I'd love a good thrifting afternoon by myself.
